AFT 1120GF is a 1.2 mm grey acrylic foam tape for structural double-sided bonding of metal, aluminium, stainless steel, acrylic and glass. It replaces screws, rivets and tack welds, spreading load evenly along the joint while its viscoelastic foam absorbs the different expansion rates of dissimilar substrates through temperature cycling. The 1.2 mm thickness suits signage, metal door stiffeners, truck canopies, elevator stiffeners and building facades that need gap-bridging and weather resistance.

Front fascia panel
Apply the acrylic foam tape to the cab framework, peel the liner, then press the front fascia panel into place. The tape bonds the panel over its full area, so there are no rivet heads on the finished face.
Side body panel
Run continuous strips of tape along the body frame rails, then press the side panel on. The foam bond spreads load across the whole panel and seals the joint, replacing rivets and spot welds.
Rear quarter panel
Bond the rear side panels the same way. The acrylic foam absorbs vibration and the differential expansion between the metal panel and the steel frame, so the bond holds over the vehicle life.

Skirt cladding panel
Apply the foam tape to the escalator truss, peel the liner, then press the stainless skirt panel into place. The tape holds the cladding flush with no visible screws.
Bond without screws
Foam tape bonds decorative stainless and aluminium cladding panels to the structure over their full footprint, so the finished escalator has clean panel lines with no fixings.
Absorb movement
The acrylic foam layer flexes with foot-traffic vibration and thermal movement between the cladding and the metal frame, keeping the bond and the panel seam intact.

Frequently asked questions
Mightyloc AFT 1120GF is a 1.2 mm grey acrylic foam tape for structural double-sided bonding on metal, aluminium, stainless steel, acrylic and glass. It is used in signage and metal fabrication for metal door stiffeners, automotive accessory mounting, truck canopies, outdoor signage, elevator stiffeners and building facades, replacing screws, rivets and welds.
Mightyloc AFT 1120GF has a tensile strength of 7000 gf/cm2, the highest in the Mightyloc grey foam series, with a peel adhesion of 4000 gf/cm2. Its higher tensile figure reflects the thicker 1.2 mm foam, which gives more load capacity and better stress distribution than the 0.8 mm AFT 1080GF for demanding structural joints.
Mightyloc AFT 1120GF withstands up to 160 degrees C short term and 100 degrees C long term. This higher heat tolerance, compared with grades rated to 90 degrees C continuous, suits elevated-temperature signage and fabrication work. Its viscoelastic foam also accommodates the differing expansion of dissimilar bonded substrates through temperature cycling.
Mightyloc AFT 1120GF holds a 1000 gram static load for at least 24 hours on stainless steel at 80 degrees C in holding-power testing. That confirms the tape sustains load under heat without creeping, which matters for vertical bonds on facades, stiffeners and panels exposed to sun and warm environments.
Mightyloc AFT 1120GF is 1.2 mm thick, the mid-thickness grade in the grey foam series between 0.8 mm AFT 1080GF and 2.0 mm AFT 1200GF. The 1.2 mm foam gives more gap-filling and conformability than the 0.8 mm version while keeping a slim profile, which helps it bridge minor surface irregularities between two parts.
Mightyloc AFT 1120GF bonds instantly on contact and builds toward full strength over time as the acrylic adhesive wets out. Position parts correctly before pressing, because the bond resists repositioning once contact pressure is applied. Roll the full tape length firmly with a J-roller to maximise surface contact, then leave the joint undisturbed while strength develops.
Mightyloc AFT 1120GF has a 24-month shelf life from the date of manufacture. Store it at a steady 25 to 30 degrees C, away from high humidity and direct sunlight, and keep unused rolls clean and free of dust and grease. Keep tape in its wrapper and never stack rolls without a release liner separating the layers.
Mightyloc AFT 1120GF is not recommended for low-surface-energy materials including polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE), Teflon (PTFE) and silicone. It bonds reliably to metals, aluminium, stainless steel, acrylic and glass. Clean surfaces with IPA, abrade smooth surfaces, and use a primer on difficult substrates.
