Front fascia panel
Apply the acrylic foam tape to the cab framework, peel the liner, then press the front fascia panel into place. The tape bonds the panel over its full area, so there are no rivet heads on the finished face.
Side body panel
Run continuous strips of tape along the body frame rails, then press the side panel on. The foam bond spreads load across the whole panel and seals the joint, replacing rivets and spot welds.
Rear quarter panel
Bond the rear side panels the same way. The acrylic foam absorbs vibration and the differential expansion between the metal panel and the steel frame, so the bond holds over the vehicle life.

Skirt cladding panel
Apply the foam tape to the escalator truss, peel the liner, then press the stainless skirt panel into place. The tape holds the cladding flush with no visible screws.
Bond without screws
Foam tape bonds decorative stainless and aluminium cladding panels to the structure over their full footprint, so the finished escalator has clean panel lines with no fixings.
Absorb movement
The acrylic foam layer flexes with foot-traffic vibration and thermal movement between the cladding and the metal frame, keeping the bond and the panel seam intact.

Frequently asked questions
Mightyloc AFT 1080GF is a 0.8 mm grey acrylic foam tape for double-sided structural bonding on metal, aluminium, stainless steel, acrylic and glass. It is built for signage and metal fabrication work such as metal door stiffeners, truck canopies, elevator stiffeners, outdoor signage and building facades, where it replaces screws, rivets and tack welds.
Mightyloc AFT 1080GF reaches a dynamic shear strength of 6000 g/cm2 to stainless steel after a 24-hour dwell, tested per ASTM D1002. Its 180-degree peel strength is 3000 g/25mm. The acrylic foam spreads load evenly along the whole joint instead of concentrating it at fastener points, which suits high-stress structural bonding.
Mightyloc AFT 1080GF has a service temperature range of -10 to 90 degrees C. Apply it within an ambient temperature of 15 to 35 degrees C for best initial wet-out. Its viscoelastic acrylic foam absorbs the different expansion and contraction rates of dissimilar substrates through temperature cycling, which is why it holds up in outdoor signage and facade use.
Mightyloc AFT 1080GF is 0.8 mm thick, the thinnest of the grey foam series (the others being 1.2 mm AFT 1120GF and 2.0 mm AFT 1200GF). It ships as a 33 m log at 800 mm standard log width, slit to your required widths. The thinner 0.8 mm profile suits flatter, closer-fitting bonds where gap-filling is minimal.
Mightyloc AFT 1080GF bonds on contact but builds to optimum strength over time as the acrylic adhesive wets out into the surface. Apply firm pressure with a J-roller or squeegee across the full tape length, and only press down once parts are correctly positioned, since repositioning weakens the bond. Leave the joint undisturbed while strength builds.
Clean and dry all surfaces before applying Mightyloc AFT 1080GF, removing dust, dirt, oil and grease. Use IPA (isopropyl alcohol) for general cleaning and heptane for oily or greasy surfaces, and never oil-based solvents. Abrading the surfaces before bonding is highly recommended. For hard-to-bond materials, a suitable primer improves adhesion.
Mightyloc AFT 1080GF is not recommended for low-surface-energy plastics such as polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE), Teflon (PTFE) and silicone, where acrylic adhesives struggle to anchor. It bonds well to metals, aluminium, stainless steel, acrylic and glass. For difficult substrates, surface priming or a different adhesive system may be needed, so contact the MightyLoc team.
Mightyloc AFT 1080GF has a shelf life of 24 months from the date of manufacture. Store it at a constant 25 to 30 degrees C, away from high humidity and direct sunlight, and keep unused product clean and free of dust and grease. Always keep rolls in their wrapper and never stack tape without a release liner between layers.
